Best Diaper Bag for One Kid: The Ju-Ju-Be BFF

If you’ve been looking at new diaper bags, check out one of the best diaper bags, the Ju-Ju-Be BFF. This is my favorite diaper bag for one kid.

I have the Ju-Ju-Be BFF Diaper Bag in the Black Ops color from the Onyx Collection. It’s a subtle black and dark purple camo print. I’ve been using this bag for a little more than a year.

Prior to having a baby, I had no idea what was important or what I needed in a diaper bag. I had a couple of diaper bags prior to this one but once I got the BFF it helped me realize what features were useful and important.

One of my favorite features of the BFF is that I can carry it two ways, as a backpack or cross-body. I leave both sets of straps attached but you can remove them to lighten the load. Life with a toddler while pregnant is unpredictable and sometimes it’s easy to carry it as a backpack if I’m baby-wearing or holding Gracie but cross-body is perfect when I need to wear the bag and access its contents. For instance, when I change Gracie in a public restroom, I wear it crossbody and unzip the main compartment. The gussets of the bag keep it open without anything falling out. In this position, it’s easy to access her diapers, wipes, and any other items I need while changing her without putting the bag on the floor.

Speaking of changing diapers, the BFF comes with an awesome memory foam padded changing pad. This is my favorite changing pad. It feels nice and cushy and better than any other portable changing pad I have. It feels a little small now since Gracie is nearly 1.5 but it gets the job done when we’re out and about.

There are two insulated bottle pockets on the outside. They stretch nicely and fit Gracie’s Contigo water bottle and my larger water bottle and are easy to access, even when the bag is full.

I carry a separate purse with my phone and wallet so I don’t use the mommy pocket for much.

The felt-lined phone pocket is nice and large. I just keep a few of Gracie’s hair bows and sunglasses in here.

All of the metal hardware and zippers on the bag are a nice touch. These zippers are opened and closed all the time so I know they’ll hold up better than a plastic zipper.

The Main Compartment

All of the different pockets in this bag make it easy to use without additional diaper bag pouches or organizers. The inner pockets can hold anything and everything like diapers, wipes, pacifier wipes, utensils, snacks, and more.

The lighter inner liner makes it easy to find things inside. I have purses that have black interiors and things definitely get lost in there.

One fun feature is the crumb drains on the back pocket. Any crumbs floating around in here just fall right out and make it easy to keep clean.

I’m not sure what the bag material is made of but it has a good weight to it and feels durable and high quality. It’s also treated with Teflon so it’s stain resistant and easy to wipe down. If it gets crazy dirty you can even throw it in the washing machine.

Possible Deal Breakers

The bag doesn’t come with stroller straps. I have a stroller that has a large storage area so this was never a problem for me.

This bag can get heavy. It weighs approximately 2.8 lbs when it’s empty. When my BFF is packed full for a full day out it weighs a little over 9lbs.

The price tag is a little steep and it might be out of budget for some. New BFF bags retail for $180.

Just Say Yes

Everything about the Ju-Ju-Be BFF is well thought out and screams quality. Their attention to detail is obvious and it definitely spoils you when you look at other diaper bags. They also offer a lifetime guarantee on their bags if you purchase them from an authorized retailer. Yes, the price is on the higher side but in this case, you get what you pay for.
